<dd><p>An essential constant for all trigonometry.  Pi is the ratio of a
circle&rsquo;s circumferences to its diameter.  Since pi is an irrational
number, the <var>pi</var> in Chickadee is a mere floating point
approximation that is &ldquo;good enough.&rdquo;
